Facts on COVID-19

In December 2019, a new coronavirus was discovered which causes a respiratory disease called COVID-19. The virus SARS CoV-2 has now been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. It is transmitted through droplets released from the mouth or nose, or by contact with contaminated surfaces.

The symptoms include fever, cough, tiredness, body pains, difficulty breathing, loss of taste, loss of smell, headache, sore throat, diarrhoea.
Prevention can be achieved by breaking the transmission chain. Cough into a flexed elbow or tissue paper, maintain physical distance of at least One metre (1m) from others, use of a face mask in public places and regular hand washing.

There is currently no vaccine or definitive treatment for COVID-19. Most of the care offered is supportive to relieve symptoms. Most people experience mild symptoms which can be treated at home. If you develop symptoms of COVID, immediately self-isolate, contact the state COVID call centre to get tested and call to speak with a doctor on 09093608138.
